The Project

In 1986, after decades of discussion the German Bundestag decided to demolish the old Chamber built in 1949 and erect a new contemporary building. During this 120 million Euro Parliament Building construction, the German Bundestag met in the neighbouring Water Supply Plant.
The last meeting of Parliament before the relocation took place on 1st of July 1999, when Federal President Johannes Rau was sworn in.

Today the Chamber is part of the World Conference Centre Bonn (WCCB), one of the most important convention centres in Germany.
